China continues to warm up to the talent of Aamir Khan. After Dangal (2016), it looks like Secret Superstar Movie (2017) is well on its way to make $1000 million (Rs643 crore approx.) in the Chinese box office, as reported by ENT group.

Secret Superstar made $2.31 million (Rs14.9 crore) on Thursday (8 February) taking its China collection to $101.11 million gross (approximately Rs650 crore at current exchange rate). The Indian film continued to top the China box office, marginally beating local film Till The End Of The World, which pocketed $2.15 million (Rs13.9 crore approx.) on Thursday.

Secret Superstar though faces a huge task to beat Dangal that grossed a whopping $193 million (Rs1,240 crore approx.). The Secret Superstar film released in China on Friday 19 January, with 55,666 shows, which was moved up to 63,536 shows on Sunday, 21 January. The week saw a slump in the number of shows to 46,544.

However, looks like the film will face tough competition to reach Rs1,000 crore in the coming to week as a host of Chinese films are lined up to be released next week. Whether it crosses Rs1,000 crore or not, Aamir Khan and a team will be pleased with the terrific response to the film that was made at a relatively modest budget of Rs50 crore.

The Hollywood Actor Dhanush, who has shared a poster and teaser of his Hollywood debut “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir”, says it has indeed been a journey extraordinaire. Based on a bestseller book “The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe”, the film is an English-French comedy-drama directed by Ken Scott.

Dhanush shared the first poster f the film on his official Twitter handle. In the poster, he is seen wearing a colorful Rajasthani headgear. “Here is the teaser poster of ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’. My first English film. It’s been an extraordinary journey indeed. Hope you guys like it,” tweeted Dhanush, a popular name in the south Indian film industry.

The movie also features French actress Berenice Bejo, Somalian-American actor Barkhad Abdi and American actress Erin Moriarty. In director Scott’s words, the film is a story of a young India who comes from Mumbai. “He knows nothing else but his neighborhood.”

According to Scott, working with actors from different cultural background was inspirational. Sharing his experience in a video, Scott said: “I fell in love with the project. Working with Dhanush and other actors from so many different cultures was truly inspiring. We shot in different countries — India, Italy, France, Libya. “We wanted to impact these different countries to the main character. Very simply what I tried to do is to get the best out of each actor to find the right balance of drama and comedy.”

In the film, Dhanush is playing a Mumbai man named Ajatashatru Lavash Patel. “Something in the story makes the movie look like a fable, so we wanted ‘Fakir’ to be very entertaining and adventurous,” Scott added.

Talking about his first Hollywood project, Dhanush told IANS, “It’s God’s grace that I landed this offer. Although I have been offered three Hollywood projects, the script of this one really convinced me to sign it. It’s a very strong role. I play a character called Ajatashatru, a street magician. I believe what you spread out comes back seeking you. It’s such a positive film and it’s all about spreading positivity.” The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir releases on May 30, 2018.

Director Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Tamil film will be titled Chekka Chivandha Vaanam (Dark red sky) and will star Silambarasan, Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Arun Vijay and Jyothika in the lead roles. AR Rahman will score the music.

The Chekka Chivandha Vaanam First look Poster, which was released by the director’s production banner Madras Talkies, is a montage of the actors. The bilingual, which is titled Nawab in Telugu, will also star Actress Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Ramesh, Prakash Raj, Thyagarajan, Mansoor Ali Khan and Jaya Sudha. Fahadh Fazil is not a part of the final cast, as had been rumoured. The Lyca Productions co-production will begin shooting on February 12.

The PADMAN film produced by Twinkle Khanna is a film based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the inventor of low-cost sanitary napkins And however unique the concept and the fact that the film has a strong social message, looks like the film is facing trouble now. Here’s why…

A young writer, Ripu Daman Jaiswal has accused the makers of taking scenes in the film from a script that he had written. He even took to Facebook to post the issue. Here’s what he wrote, “One and a half years ago, I had written and registered a film based on the works of Arunachalam Muruganantham and Saati biodegradable sanitary pads. Have you heard about them? Yup, Arunachalam Muruganantham is the guy who had made low-cost sanitary pads for rural women.

I had registered the film on 5th of December 2016 from SCREENWRITER ASSOCIATION and sent to Ryan Stephan (Karan Johar’s production team creative head) and personally to Vikram Aditya Motwane. And you know what happened? After ten days on 16th of December 2016, I heard the news that Mrs. Twinkle Khanna revealed that her production is making a film based on his life, starring AKSHAY KUMAR.”

He further wrote, “Recently, the PADMAN trailer released, and most of the scenes have been taken from the summary I had sent to MR. Ryan Stephan. Yes, they even copied my fictional scenes (Check out the Rakshabandan scenes. In real life, Arunachalam Muruganantham has no sister.)

I have decided to take this matter to court and fight a battle against the producers of the film.” For proof, he even attached the screenshot of the summary that he sent to Ryan Stephan of Johar’s production house.

Black Panther, Marvel Cinematic Universe latest offering has set the Tomatometer on fire upon its release from critics. American actor Chadwick Boseman portrays the titular role of Black Panther aka T’Challa, the King of Wakanda in this all-black ensemble movie. The superhero film which is the 18th movie of MCU is already touted to be their best work till date.

Backing the claims is Rotten Tomatoes Score of Black Panther, which has been certified ‘Fresh’. The movie based on Marvel Comics superhero, in fact, earned 100% till two bad reviews (out of 83) by the unimpressed movie critics dent its perfect ratings. Black Panther fans, you got to read these negative reviews.

The “Black Panther spirals into a stodgy tale of internecine feuding, in which T’Challa is required to come to terms with the sins of past generations,” writes Ed Power for the Irish Independent, giving the movie a 3 out 5. “What he doesn’t get to do much of is jump around beating up bad guys. That’s a shame.”

Going into further detail, Power suggests that Donald Trump plays a role in dragging down Black Panther, writing, “Fourteen months into the Trump presidency, Black Panther arrives on storm-clouds of hype and with the presumption that, as the first African-set Marvel movie, it will deliver a resounding high-kick to prejudice and decades of hierarchy, racial and otherwise, in blockbuster cinema. It is expected to stand for something bigger than itself. The strain is visible, especially in the performance of Chadwick Boseman as Prince T’Challa – the eponymous Black Panther.”

Thanks to Donald Trump, Ed Power didn’t enjoy Black Panther as much as he could have, and thanks to that, Black Panther now only has a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes instead of 100%. Of all the awful things Trump has done during his presidency, this one has to be… well, okay, he’s actually done lots of worse things, but still, what a jerk!

The Bollywood National Award Winning Actor Akshay Kumar Recent Release PadMan was released in India and worldwide on February 9 over 3000 Screens which received a nice response from the public. The PADMAN film was hailed for bringing out a rather sensitive topic of the importance of sanitary pads out in open. However, The Members of the Punjab Film Censor Board have denied watching PADMAN Full Movie so as to issue a clearance certificate to it.

According to the members, a film with “taboo” subjects such as menstruation will not be allowed screening in Pakistan. The Federal Censor Board also denied issuing a NOC to PadMan and announced a ban on the Akshay Kumar-starrer in all cinemas across the country. On the other hand, film distributors were also criticised by the local film producers for purchasing Indian films that are “ruining Islamic traditions, history, and culture.”

Well-known Pakistani filmmaker Syed Noor said that there was a need to speak to the local film distributors and exhibitors about the films they import from other countries. “Not only this film ‘Padman’ but I think even ‘Padmaavat’ should not have been released in Pakistan as it portrays Muslims in a very negative light,” Noor said.

Also, distributors IMGC was planning to purchase the film but the censor board had advised them against it. However, another distribution company bought the distribution rights for PadMan on the condition that they will only process the payment if it’s been approved by the censor board. After being denied screening, the posters were removed from all the cinemas.

The Padam movie has opened to a good reception in India as it earned Rs 10.26 crore on its first day and is expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark during the weekend. Renowned actor Akshay Kumar, along with Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte, is among the cast of the film which is directed by R Balki.
